Pigment disorders (Age spots)

Pigmented lesions are usually falsely called age spots. They have little to do with age and more to do with UV radiation exposure over the years-the cummulative effect. They are usually on site exposed to UV radiation such as the face, hands, arms, legs and decolleté.

Sun spots are benign and can be removed for aesthetic reasons with the laser. The ruby laser destroys pigment selectively without damaging the tissue of the surrounding region. The age spots disappear usually after 1-2 treatments.

It is however recommended to use UV protection to prevent the development of further age spots.
